What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)?

CBT identifies and treats difficulties arising from an individual's irrational thinking, misperceptions, dysfunctional thoughts, and faulty learning.

 

It is a way of talking about:

§         How you think about yourself, the world and other people

§         How what you do affects your thoughts and feelings

What are the goals of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

 

The goals are to restructure one's thoughts, perceptions, and beliefs. Such restructuring facilitates behavioural and emotional change. During therapy, coping skills and abilities are assessed and further developed.
