HYPNOSIS
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a safe state of mind; it involves a natural deep state of relaxation through the use of suggestion. During this state of relaxation the mind is more receptive to suggestion (in which you can access subconscious resources to facilitate positive changes in your life). Virtually everyone can benefit from hypnotherapy. Provided a client is motivated to change, with expert help you can achieve all your realistic goals.
Simple example of how hypnosis works might relate to a phobia of bees. We are not born with an inherent fear of bees; we are born with a naturally positive curiosity for all things within our immediate environment. A fear of bees can only be developed in one of two ways: either we see other people’s fear and model our response accordingly (a conditioned response); or we have a scary experience ourselves that becomes the prominent information stored in our unconscious (a learned response) and as such, fear becomes our unilateral response to bees. Over time, as we develop these unhelpful beliefs (e.g. bees are dangerous), or unwanted behaviours (e.g. freaking out at the mere sight of a bee), we simply end up re-accessing and replaying them time and time again – they become our habitual response. This model can be applied to any phobia, addiction, stress or anxiety response, self-esteem issue, and more or less all of our other unhelpful response in life.
To change these unhelpful thoughts, we need to change the information stored in the unconscious, or to provide the unconcious with newer and more helpful information. This can be achieved through hypnosis. The reason why hypnosis is so effective lies in the fact that it bypasses the conscious mind and creates an alternative state of consciousness during which attention is focused away from the present reality. Rather like day dreaming, attention can then be focussed towards particular images, thoughts, feelings, perspectives and behaviours which will help us to change or update the information stored in our unconscious, thus changing our unhelpful habitual responses.
At uk therapies we use Hypnotherapy to help our clients achieve fast and long lasting change. Through removing limiting beliefs, irradiating unwanted behaviours and relieving anxiety and stress, our clients get more of what they truly want, whether in business, in relationships or generally in life.
Is What is hypnosis?
Yes, hypnosis is safe.
We all drift into hypnosis every day for example, if you have ever watched a television program or movie and become really absorbed in that programme; you were probably in a trance. This trance is what may have caused you to not hear what was going on around you. Throughout the hypnotic experience, you remain in full control and are not unconscious or asleep. The side effect that is most common is a feeling of release and relaxation after the session. It is also approved by the UK’s leading professional medical body. The BMA reviewed the practice of clinical hypnosis in 1955 and declared it an integrative practice, one that can be incorporated alongside standard medical disciplines. It endorsed the practice of hypnosis in medical school education. Since then it has become a valuable supplement (and, in some cases, a substitute) to conventional medical treatment. There are no harmful side-effects.
